In her comments, she said that she had made smaller ones by casting on 9 stitches instead of 15 to give as baby gifts, but couldn't remember exactly how she had done it. Here is my solution, using Peaches & Creme worsted weight cotton yarn and #9 needles (US): Cast on 9 stitches. Row 1: K across. Row 2: K2, YO, K to last st, turn. Row 3: K across. Row 4: K2, YO, Kto last 2 sts, turn. Row 5: K across. Row 6: Bind off 2 sts, K1, YO, K to last 3 sts, turn. Row 7: K across. Row 8: K2, YO, K to last 4 sts, turn. Row 9: K across. Row 10: Bind off 2 sts, K1, YO, K to last 5 sts, turn. Row 11: K across. Row 12: K2, YO, K to last 6 sts, turn. Row 13: K across. Row 14: Bind off 2 sts, K across row. As in the original pattern, repeat these rows 6 more times, draw up the center and sew the edge together. These small cloths can be made in just a couple of hours. I made 1 large cloth and 1 matching small cloth for my next-door neighbor, who just had a baby. I think I will be able to get1 more small cloth out of a 2 oz. skein of yarn. A truly unique gift for an impressive $1.27! Cara Blume cblume6@aol.com --- This pattern downloaded from Wool Works: the online knitting compendium http://www.woolworks.org/
