Size 9 or 10 circular needle (29") scrap yarn Leaving a 3-6" tail at each end, cast on 170-200 stitches (enough for the LENGTH you want as you will be knitting this sideways). Yes, cut that yarn at the end of the cast on row. Add another color, again leaving 3-6" tail and continue in garter stitch. If some of your yarn is too fine, double it. Continue until scarf is the width you want. Tie off fringe and cut it (if you want) to even length. We each brought scraps of various colors and materials and then grabbed what we wanted from the middle of the floor. This is a great way to use up little pieces -- each row will take 6-10 yards but you can add another color if you run out in the middle of a row.
