Consider it my belated gift to the list, in gratitude for companionship (virtual and real) and for the many patterns I've received from you all. Especial thanks to the listers I've corresponded with privately in the last few days. You know who you are! This pattern is from Barbara Walker's Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns, page 260. It's called "Stripe with Twisted Bars" -- how UNromantic. (Can anyone think of a better name?) Anyway, this pattern uses very little yarn, big needles, and is toddler-proof: I've knitted two scarves while keeping my 2 3/4-year-old son company in the playroom. Enjoy! Barbara Walker's "Stripe With Twisted Bars" Scarf Pattern.\\ Yarn: I've used kid mohair and a mohair blend. About 50g, possibly more if you want a larger scarf. Needles: The ones I used weren't marked, but were about 1/2 inch or 1 cm in diameter. Gauge really isn't crucial: you want it loose because of the lace (and because of the quickness). Cast on: multiple of 6 stitches plus one. I think I casted on 37 for my scarves. Row 1 (right side): K1, *yo, k1, k3tog, k1, yo, k1; repeat from * Row 2: P1, *K5, p1; repeat from *. Repeat rows 1 and 2 until desired length. Remember to cast on and off very loosely. HAve fun! warmly, Vivienne in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. --- This pattern downloaded from Wool Works: the online knitting compendium http://www.woolworks.org/
